Active Start Sports
Worcester County Recreation and Parks Department is launching its popular sport programs for your children to enjoy during the winter season. Active Start Youth Sport Development Programs are for children of all skill levels. These sport-specific programs prepare children for organized sports in a fun, non-threatening environment by teaching the fundamentals of play while encouraging an appreciation for being physically fit and healthy.
Active Start Bowling will take place at the Eastern Shore Lanes in Pocomoke City on Thursdays, January 12 through February 16 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The program is open to grades fourth to eighth. Active Start Track will teach players in grades third through eighth, how to sprint, hurdle, long jump and more! Technique will be taught through drills and games. The program will be held at the Worcester County Recreation Center on Thursdays, January 12 from March 2 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. For more information contact Myro Small at 410-632-2144 x2512 or msmall@marylandscoast.org.
Active Start Volleyball aims to help elevate your child’s volleyball skills to the next level. Participants in grades fourth through eighth, will be taught the sport for them to love and play volleyball. The program will meet at the Pocomoke Middle School on Fridays from January 13 through February 24 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. This program is sponsored by the Worcester County Recreation Boosters and is being offered at a discounted price of $10 per child. Transportation for all active start programs will be available from the school to the designated facility. The price per child is $35 and $30 for each additional child. Financial aid is available to those who show a demonstrated need. Proof of eligibility is required.
