Closing of Playgrounds
While Worcester County Recreation & Parks usually encourages people to take advantage and get together in our parks, at this time we are asking you not to bring your kids to the playgrounds. Schools are closed in an effort to keep kids, teachers and parents apart to help minimize the potential spread of COVID-19. For us to keep playgrounds open and encourage families to use them would not only work against that strategy but would also work against the recommendation of the CDC and the Worcester County Health Department.
At this point, your health and well-being is our highest priority, and in an abundance of caution, we’re closing playgrounds effective Monday, March 23 until further notice.
Parks and trails will remain open for “passive recreation” such as walking or jogging, and we advise park users to practice social distancing.
We appreciate your support and patience as we work together to keep everyone safe.
