Hello Partners, Parents and Community Leaders:
Due to the national emergency created by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we have decided to cancel high-attendance, youth-focused events and activities through April 2020, including all local and regional Pitch, Hit & Run and Junior Home Run Derby competitions. This decision, which does not come easily, was made in light of recommendations by federal and local authorities to postpone large group gatherings as our nation looks to suppress the spread of this disease. We will be in communication should there be any opportunity to re-schedule these events.
MLB will continue to undertake the precautions and best practices recommended by public health experts, including by the World Health Organization and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). We advise all communities and families to follow the guidelines set forth by these experts, as well as your state’s public health department (click here for a listing of state public health departments ), and other county and/or local authorities including precedents set by area school districts and government agencies.
Nothing is more important to us than the health and safety of anyone who plays, coaches, and loves our game. Over the years, we have reached hundreds of thousands of young people through our skills competitions, and highlight the best of the best during our All-Star Week. We look forward to returning to your community in the near future.
